Typical instruments in the style are guitar, violin, clarinet, and upright bass, but all musicians are welcome! (Ages 15 and up) mandolin and ukulele too!
Students should have some basic proficiency on their instrument and some background with music theory, as well as knowledge of notes and chords. Reading music is not required but would be helpful. Tab will be provided for string players who don't read notation.
There is a limit of 15 seats: 6 guitar, 6 woodwind/Brass and 3 bass. A minimum of 6 students is required for the workshop to happen. If enrollment does not reach 6 students for the overall workshop, registered students will receive a full refund.
Each week students will have a one hour group lesson specifically for their instrument, followed by an hour of ensemble playing. Ensembles will be formed with a brief introductory lecture followed by rehearsal. The goal will be for each ensemble to learn, arrange and play a minimum of one new tune each week, while maintaining the music from the previous weeks. The workshop will culminate with a student ensemble and faculty concert at the Lighthouse Arts Center.
There is a PayPal button on this website- Payment must be in full to reserve your seat- make sure to mention what instrument you will be bringing to the workshop. Please provide contact information so we can reach you if plans change.

With songs ranging from breakneck Gypsy swing mayhem to plaintively introspective ballads, this album showcases a high energy fusion of Gypsy Jazz and classic American songwriting styles with a big dose of blues sensibility.
